Every experience leading up to this point has molded me into the woman I am today.
I thought I had it all together. I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Spanish, worked two restaurant jobs, hung out with friends and family often, and practiced yoga and surfed in my free time. But, something was missing. On the surface, I had everything. Deep down, I was searching for more.
It’s been quite a rollercoaster, this ride called life, but I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I’ve had the pleasure to travel throughout the U.S. as well as Central America, the Caribbean and Europe, all the while forming bonds with souls across the universe, of all ages and walks of life. The most rewarding aspect of life, in my opinion, is learning about the people, places and animals that make this world the magical environment it is. Whether that may be through conversation, experience, people-watching, any kind of social experiment where there is a take-away and lesson to be learned, (which is the case in most instances). For example: roommate situations, work conflicts, differing political views, miscommunication on any level, etc. These serve a bigger purpose than what it may seem like at first. This was hard to grasp, at least it was for me in the beginning. I have learned that I need to calm my ego down a bit, give myself space, be patient and stay grateful. This process didn’t happen overnight. I still have to catch myself from reverting back to old thoughts and habits that don’t serve me.
I am stronger because of my past. I am wiser because of the lessons I’ve learned. I am Alanna, Lani Loves, the universe, all of you and me and life itself!
When you learn about others, you are learning about yourself. After all, we are all one: the collective consciousness, experiencing itself individually. In this day and age, we use technology as a means of communication, expression, education, creation, and almost anything you can imagine. I’ve loved how it’s given me the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals all across the world. It gives us faith that we don’t have to look next door for a friend, but within. Because we are all in this together, all supporting, loving, breaking, appreciating, failing, and growing together.
